Four Year plan

 Requirements of the Agricultural and Resource Economics (AREC) major  

Six benchmark courses: 

  • Calculus I (Math 120 or Math140)
  • ECON 200
  • ECON 201
  • AREC326 (we will accept ECON326 if completed)
  • BMGT230 or equivalent
  • STAT 100 or other statistics course*

*STAT 400 can subsitute for both BMGT230 and STAT 100.

Seven upper level AREC courses:

Six courses making up a "field":

  • A field is any six courses that form a coherent area of study that complements the study in AREC. View each field of study.

**A student is given up to two attempts for each course to earn the required grade of C- or better. A "W" does count as an attempt.

Below are the four year plans for the AREC major. Students enrolled at the university prior to fall 2012 will be under the CORE program. Students matriculating* to the University of Maryland (including freshmen and students transferring from private institutions and from non-Maryland public institutions) beginning in Fall 2012 will be under the new General Education program. *For purposes of this transfer policy, matriculation means to be admitted to college and enrolled in classes following award of the high school diploma.
