Provides support for functions of the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics that will further aid in the academic and professional development of students, faculty and staff.
Bessie H. Devault Award
Named for the wife of Dr. Samuel H. DeVault, chair of the Department of Agricultural Economics from 1922 to 1951, this award is presented to the author of the best paper by a second-year student.
Dr. Billy Lessley was an esteemed member of the department from 1965 to 1991. Each year, the writer of the best dissertation receives this award.
Dr. Gardner served as Chair of the Department from 2000 to 2003 and was honored by the University with the designation of Distinguished University Professor. This fund supports scholarships for graduate students, with an emphasis on international studies.
The Bruce and Mary Ann Gardner Dissertation Enhancement Award
The award is given each year to one or more graduate students students to enhance the quality of their dissertations. The grant can be used to support the purchase of data or efforts to collect data, including travel as it is related to these endeavors. Awards are not intended for travel to conferences or workshops or to support graduate student salary or stipends.
Dr. Moore, emeritus faculty from the AREC Department and longtime leader of the college’s International Programs office, and his wife Marjorie started this fund to help provide resources for faculty and students of AREC.

Ray A. Murray Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is awarded to AREC students with an emphasis on undergraduates.
Rhona Lantin Scholarship
Named after a former graduate student, this award is presented to the author of the best paper by a first year graduate student.
AGNR Funds of Interest to AREC
Dr. Moore, emeritus faculty from the AREC Department and longtime leader of the college’s International Programs office, and his wife Marjorie established this Fund to provide international experiences for students in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
