AREC Students Lauded by Alumni

At the AGNR Alumni Awards dinner, AREC senior Benjamin Zimitti and Ph.D. graduate student Youpei Yan were recognized for their achievements by the Alumni Chapter.

Zimmitti was given the overall Outstanding Undergraduate Award. With AGNR, Zimmitti has served as one of the college’s ambassadors as a representative of students and a peer mentor. He also served on the AREC student advisory council. Throughout his time at the University of Maryland, he has also been a part of a Global Leadership Council and an exchange member of World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF).

He has also been involved in the Leadership & Community Service Learning office in Stamp, which focuses on addressing student affairs. After graduation, he plans to attend graduate school at Michigan State University and study higher education administration.

AREC also nominated Yan to be recognized as a graduate student at the ceremony. After she graduates, Yan plans to work at the World Bank.
