AREC Support Funds
The Agriculture and Resource Economics Fund
Provides support for functions of the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics that will further aid in the academic and professional development of students, faculty and staff.
Dr. and Mrs. Bill V. Lessley Dissertation Excellence Award
This scholarship provides support for an annual award in recognition of dissertation excellence by a graduate student in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics.
Dr. Bruce L. Gardner Memorial Scholarship
Dr. Gardner served as Chair of the Department from 2000 to 2003 and was honored by the University with the designation of Distinguished University Professor. This fund supports scholarships for graduate students, with an emphasis on international studies.
John R. and Marjorie C. Moore Professorship in Agriculture and Resource Economics
Dr. Moore, emeritus faculty from the AREC Department and longtime leader of the college’s International Programs office, and his wife Marjorie started this fund to help provide resources for faculty and students of AREC.
Rhona Lantin Scholarship
Named after a former graduate student, this award is presented to the author of the best paper by a first-year graduate student.
Bessie H. Devault Award
Named for the wife of Dr. Samuel H. DeVault, chair of the Department of Agricultural Economics from 1922 to 1951, this award is presented to the author of the best paper by a second-year student.
Ray A. Murray Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is awarded to AREC students with an emphasis on undergraduates.
AGNR Funds of Interest to AREC
John R. and Marjorie C. Moore International Agriculture and Natural Resources Student Travel Endownment
Dr. Moore, emeritus faculty from the AREC Department and longtime leader of the college’s International Programs office, and his wife Marjorie established this Fund to provide international experiences for students in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
