Maryland Day will return to a live in-person setting this Saturday, and we hope you can join us to experience AGNR’s hub on Ag Day Avenue! We are excited to once again feature many of the college's program areas, departments, Extension, research, and student organizations.
The AREC tables will be in the Animal Sciences Building courtyard, directly across from the campus farm. Join us to play an AREC-themed Jeopardy game with fun prizes, such as candy, fruit and vegetable seeds, and succulents! There will also be a table where you can learn more about the AREC-based global poverty minor.
The College invites you to bring the family and explore the wonders of soil and learn to plant your own garden. Test your knowledge on climate change and learn what it takes to clean up our oceans. Come check out the Maryland 4-H showcase area featuring the MD 4-H State Council, meet the folks behind the algae “Terp” scrubbers that are helping to clean the Port of Baltimore, visit with the UME farm stress management team, and so much more. And of course, keeping with Ag Day traditions, visit our farm animals, tour the farm with pre-vet students, and watch the Equestrian Club demonstrate its skills at the Horse Show and Exhibition.
Many AGNR student clubs will be selling food including burgers and fries, cotton candy, popcorn, and 3-D printed pancakes, so bring your appetite.
In addition to the Animal Sciences courtyard, AGNR will have a tent on McKeldin Mall where you can meet and help name the newest edition of the UMD Dairy Herd, as well as a presence in the Plant Sciences Plaza.
Join us and unlock a world of learning & discovery at Ag Day Avenue from 10am to 4pm! Check out marylandday.umd.edu to plan your day.
To AREC faculty, staff, students, and alumni: The department would love to see your photos from Maryland Day and take this opportunity to keep in touch. Send your photos to umdarec@umd.edu. We are looking forward to seeing you!
