On May 8, Youpei Yan, an AREC Ph.D. graduate student, received the 2018 Outstanding Graduate Assistant award from the University of Maryland Graduate School.
At the university, there are approximately 4,000 graduate students who work on campus as administrative, research or teaching assistants. The Outstanding Graduate Assistant award was made to honor these students and the contributions they offer to professors, administrators, students, faculty and departments.
Receiving the award means that Yan is among the top two percent of graduate assistants here at the university. Throughout her time at Maryland, Yan has been a teaching assistant six times, including four graduate level classes. She was nominated by Professor Robert Chambers for the award.
After she graduates,Yan will work at the World Bank.
